Dr. Atkins Views on Low-Carb Sustainability

Image
Is a Low-Carb Diet Sustainable? (Photo by Alpha ) As most of you know, I’m extremely partial to the 1972 and the 1992 versions of The Atkins Diet. The ’72 version was based on Dr. Atkins own experiences following a low-carb diet and a few initial clinical observations. The original ’92 version (the first edition) was based on the feedback that he actually got from his patients. Many of them were cheating by adding a few vegetables to Induction along with the salad, which they eventually admitted to. Since Dr. Atkins patients still lost weight easily eating that way, Dr. Atkins decided it was okay to add 2/3 of a cup of cooked vegetables to his Induction Plan. Because of that addition, he lengthened Induction from one week to two. The second edition printed around 1999 was exactly the same as the first one except for a one-line comment he made about how he couldn’t find anything unreasonable about deducting soluble fiber grams from the total carbohydrate count – the type found in the ps...

bodybuilding diet low carb

hey guys, sean nalewanyj here of bodytransformationtruth.com,and today i want to answer a very common question that i receive, which is how to structureyour diet on workout days vs. non workout days, and more specifically, whether you shouldconsume more calories on training days and less calories on non training days. so thebasic idea behind this does seem to make sense on the surface. your body requires a greateramount of energy on workout days in order to fuel your training sessions as well asto recover from them, and it requires less energy on non-workout days since you̢۪llbe less active overall. so, cycling your daily calories is typically done under the assumptionthat it will increase workout quality, improve recovery, and decrease excess fat gains inthe long term. the problem with this approach is that it is a very short-sighted view ofmuscle building and fat burning nutrition. whether your goal is to bulk up and put onmuscle or to lean down and lose body fat, you need to keep i...

hello everybody diana here and welcome to my series hormonal balances for simple weight loss. this video, we're going to cover the hormone insulin. insulin's main function in the body is to carry the sugar in your blood to the cells. and the cells will uptake that sugar and convert that sugar either into energy or into body fat. another thing that insulin is important for is recovering from exercise and building muscle tissue. insulin also plays a huge role in metabolism. the problem is when we have too much insulin, it can prevent the breakdown of body fat. so how do we end up with a high-level of insulin? well, by getting sugar into our bloodstream. so what gets sugar into our bloodstream is carbohydrates. and let me just explain something about carbohydrates here. we have the complex carbs, we have simple carbs, and we have man-made carbs. now the complex carbs... the complex carbs when they go into your body it takes your body a long time to break it down and to process it ...

How to Turn Your Low Carb Diet into a Lifestyle

Image
Make Low-Carb Lifestyle Changes One at a Time Low carb isn’t a diet – it’s a lifestyle. We hear that all the time. In fact, even the latest Weight Watchers commercials are saying exactly the same thing: this isn’t a diet; it’s a lifestyle. We love the idea of not dieting. We love the idea of being able to eat to satisfaction. Plus, going into carb restriction with the perception that it’s for life helps to eliminate the dieting mindset that so many low-carb dieters fall into. We truly believe we can eat this way for the rest of our lives with no problems. Who couldn’t? You get to eat fatty meats such as pork ribs and bacon, real butter and sour cream, put heavy whipping cream in your coffee or tea, and munch on mixed nuts, assorted cheeses, olives and deviled eggs – all without having to count the calories. There’s cheesecake for dessert, low-carb pancakes and muffins, jalapeno hot poppers and dozens of ways to enjoy chicken wings. But then your birthday or anniversary rolls around or...
