Lyle McDonald’s Rapid Fat Loss Diet – Taking a Full Diet Break

(This is part 6 of a multi-part series on How to Tweak a Low Carb Diet . It discusses my weight loss journey so far. If you didn’t read part 1, you can do so by clicking on the how-to link. Part 1 also includes links to the rest of this series.) At one time or another, most dieters get caught up in the desire of wanting to lose weight fast. That actually worked to my advantage because Lyle McDonald originally created his Rapid Fat Loss Plan (a whole foods PSMF Diet) to deal with crash diets safely. While McDonald’s focus is on bodybuilding, muscle retention, and metabolism, maintaining muscle mass during dieting is to everyone’s benefit – quick weight loss or not. The Kimkins fiasco brought the protein content of a low carb diet into the limelight. Dr. Eades’ did have recommendations for low carbers to shoot for. He talked about large, medium, and small servings of protein (five, four or three ounces) at each meal depending upon how much you currently weigh, getting 35 grams of carbohy

crash diet

hi, i'm organizing and lifestyle expert loriemarrero, creator of the clutter diet, and i want to talk today about shortcuts. you know i've been in this industry of organizingand productivity for 16 years now, and people look to me for tips and shortcuts all thetime, and particularly hacks. people love that word hack, they want kitchenhacks, and life hacks, and you know what? crash diet, i've got to say i have a pet peeve about theword hack. hacking is for coconuts and criminals whobreak into computers, and it sounds like someone with a bad cough, or someone who's a bad comedianor something. all the connotations of the word hack arejust so negative to me. i don't want to hack my life, and you knowshortcuts are not always the best way either. you can save a lot of time going through afast food drive through window more than you can save time going to a farmer's market, but i think we would all agree that the best way for your health, for the return on investmentfor

The K-E Diet: Latest Fad Diet Casts Shadow on Low Carb Diets

Tracy Rose, the Topic Editor at Suite101 for the Weight Loss Section, posted a link on Facebook this morning to her latest diet article. This article deals with the latest trend being marketed to brides: the K-E Diet. Now, we know that low carb diets in general are not new, and we know that when followed correctly, protein-sparing modified fasts are not dangerous. In fact, if you’re relatively free from additional food sensitivities, allergies and health issues, low carb programs are easy to implement and many varieties offer a luxurious living style. The latest fad diet (the K-E method) casts a dark shadow over low carb and PSMF diets. It involves inserting a feeding tube through your nose and into your stomach. This feeding tube delivers a protein solution that totals about 800 calories per day, so in essence, this diet scheme is a low carbohydrate protein sparing modified fast. You don’t eat. You just take in this solution of protein and fat for 10 days and magically shed 20 pounds

how to diet after pregnancy

i need your advice on how to safely lose weightwhile pregnant. the first thing to do is to not sit down onthe couch eating a carton of ice cream to celebrate. the second thing to do is realizeyou are eating for one point one people, not two, and not use the pregnancy as an excuseto pig out. despite the increased hunger. around a third of the population thinks theyare hungry when they are really thirsty. drink water and other hydrating liquids insteadof eating, especially if you’ve been throwing up. that only tells me what to do after morningsickness. what do i do to lose weight the rest of the pregnancy? do not overeat, take prenatal vitamins tomake up for what you crave due to malnutrition, enjoy small snacks to control stomach acid, instead of multiple full meals - that’s more a list of what not to do togain even more weight. most pregnant women will gain ten pounds forkid and placenta and another ten to twenty pounds for the extra blood vessels and supportsystem. if you gain le

7 Brutal Ways Low-Carb Dieters Torture Themselves

Image
What's up with low-carb dieters these days? I really need someone to explain it to me. I'm at a total loss to understand. I realize that dieting is difficult, that it requires you to give up a lot of your favorite foods, revamp your lifestyle, and substitute those old food habits with healthier alternatives, but c'mon. I mean, do you really expect to drop 15 pounds in only a couple of weeks? Do you enjoy all of the pain and misery you are bringing upon yourself due to these false expectations and fantasies? Did someone, somewhere, tell you that low-carb diets are a quick weight-loss scheme? Or what? Where did that idea actually come from? Why are so many people coming here to this blog with the idea that if they don't shed some water weight and perhaps a little muscle tissue during the first week or two, then low carb isn't worth the effort? This self-torture doesn't make sense to me. Whether its 3 days, 8 days, 2 weeks, or a month, choosing to torture yourse

Heard About the Egg Fast to Break a Stall? (It Works!)

Image
Egg Fast is the Hottest Low-Carb Stall Buster If you've stalled on your low-carb diet, or you just want to give yourself a hefty shove in the right direction, you might consider doing an egg fast. An egg fast is a short-term dieting intervention method created by Jimmy Moore in 2010. Originally called a Low-Carb Eggfest, by following the protocols he set up for himself, Jimmy was able to lose 28 pounds in 30 days. You do need to like eggs, of course. That's a no-brainer, as the majority of your protein on this fast comes from eggs. Jimmy did allow himself a little bit of hard cheese, some grass-fed butter, and a diet soda here and there, but for the most part, this is a low-carb egg diet that's specifically designed to get the scales moving in the right direction again. It wasn't set up to be a crash diet, although some people have used it that way. Over the past week, I've read a lot of material on this highly effective weight-loss fast. I was more than a little cu

The Danger in Setting Weight-Loss Goals

Image
Setting Weight Loss Goals  Can Cause You to Crash and Burn From the moment we entered this world, people have been pushing their ideas and suggestions at us. One of these suggestions is that we need to set goals. The idea of setting weight-loss goals is driven by the belief that we will receive a certain reward for having achieved the goal. Being different than we are now is supposed to bring approval and relieve our feelings of anxiety and insecurity. We hate where we are now, so we have a low-carb weight-loss action plan that will enable us to get the fast results we're hoping for. Whether that happens or not, that's what we believe, so we experience this insatiable desire to achieve our goal. It's almost like an obsession, at times. The urge to get what we want, when we want it, in return for our efforts, is just that strong. Goals can motivate you to stick to your weight-loss plan. That's what we've been told. The reward factor will give us that little boost in
