My First Protein Sparing Modified Fast Experience – Dr. Michael Eades’ Thin So Fast

(This is part 5 of a multi-part series on How to Tweak a Low Carb Diet . It discusses my weight loss journey so far. If you didn't read part 1, you can do so by clicking on the how-to link. Part 1 also includes links to the rest of this series.) After leaving the Kimkins’ weight loss diet behind, I began reading through Lyle McDonald’s website and body building forum because of a comment I received to one of my blog posts. This commenter had gotten stuck when she was almost to goal weight and had broken her stall by incorporating Lyle’s technique of using refeeds to reset her Leptin and other hormone levels back to normal. She warned me that the forum participants were not always nice to each other, especially newbies, and that they could be a bit over-the-top, but she believed the information I would find there would help me decide what to do next. That piqued my interest. Not only because I trusted the source of that information, but because I knew there had to be a valid reason ...

My First Experience with a Low Fat Low Carb Diet

(This is part 4 of a multi-part series on How to Tweak a Low Carb Diet . It discusses my weight loss journey so far. If you didn’t read part 1, you can do so by clicking on the how-to link. Part 1 also includes links to the rest of the series.)  I took a quick glance at the archives to see if I could discover exactly when I first started doing the Kimkins Diet back in 2007, but I kept it quiet due to the controversy surrounding that plan. I can remember communicating with Jimmy Moore several times back then, as he was doing the Kimkins Diet himself, but I couldn’t find anything I had actually posted to this blog. People were very emphatic back then that you had to eat a certain amount of dietary fat. You had to eat a ton of protein, and you had to get a certain amount of calories, or you were not doing low carb. Because of these self-made dietary restrictions, these same individuals refused to call Kimkins a low carb diet. They insisted it was a glucose-burning diet, even though it...

oatmeal diet plan

hi guys! today i am sharing a look back at what i ate today. so a lot of you have been requesting vegetarian ideas, and i do eat a lot of plant based food, but i am not vegan, um and i usually eat more plant based at home and not so much when i go out, but that's not always the case and since you've been requesting it i thought today i would share what some of those things i eat at home are when i happen to eat them. um so it's just to give you some ideas and also show you that you know you don't need to fit into that cookie cutter box of a lifestyle or diet and what that needs to look like and you can cater it to fit you and your preferences and how you feel that day. so let's get to it. so i started out my morning with a simple bowl of fruit. i had strawberries and bananas. and i usually like to start out my day with fruit, especially if i am working out in the morning, which i prefer to do because i don't like to feel to heavy when i'm at the gym. today a...

What I Learned From Diet Breaks, Free Meals and Refeeds

(This is part 7 of a multi-part series on How to Tweak a Low Carb Diet . It explains the path I have traveled in my weight loss journey so far. If you didn’t read part 1, you can do so by clicking on the how-to link. Part 1 also includes links to the rest of the series.) My diet break obviously refilled my glycogen stores, since I was eating more carbohydrates, but that wasn’t a surprise. I was okay with the eight-pound weight regain because everything happened exactly as Lyle McDonald said it would. Although each of us have the potential to hold different amounts of glycogen in our liver and muscles, there was no reason to believe those eight pounds were fat. I was used to inputting everything I ate into Fitday, and that didn’t stop during my break, so it was easy to keep tabs on my daily calorie count. That helped to keep me zeroed into maintenance. Overall, my complete diet break went well, except that I took my husband’s suggestion and enjoyed a full month off from dieting that Dec...

bodybuilding diet journal

hey guys. sean nalewanyj here www.seannal.com– www.bodytransformationtruth.com. this picture behind me is literally a completecoincidence but this is just sort of quick follow up here to yesterday’s video wherei talked about vegan bodybuilding diets. this question popped up in the q&a video that idid a while back and that question was basically just asking what my thoughts are on veganprotein powders. there are a lot of different ones out there, a pretty good portion of themare based on combinations of pea protein and brown rice protein but there are a lot ofother forms as well. there’s hemp, soy, quinoa, potato but in any case how do veganprotein powders compared to whey, egg or casein and can you use them as part of your musclebuilding diet. whether it’s because you actually are a vegan or just because you getcertain negative effects when you use regular animal based protein powders. very simpleanswer here, i would say that plant based protein powders when used as part of...

6 Reasons Your Weight Loss Might Have Stalled

Image
What Am I Not Losing Weight On Atkins? When it comes to weight loss, patience is vital. We all lose body fat at different rates, and each body undergoes different protective processes that we sometimes have to simply wait out. While some people lose weight slow and steady, others lose weight in stages. But if you’ve crossed over that 4-week line where you haven’t lost pounds or inches, what then? What can you do to encourage your body to let go of some of that excess body fat? 1. You Might Be Eating Too Much Fat There are many reasons why your weight loss might have stalled, and some of them are extremely contradictory. Eating too much fat is one them. While today’s low-carb mantra claims raising the amount of dietary fat you eat can cure everything from weight loss stalls to the Atkins Flu, before Dr. Atkins passed away, that wasn’t what the Atkins Center was telling folks. In fact, checking out the amount of fat you’re eating was the first thing they always asked you to look at back...

My First Attempt at Tweaking – Very Low Carb and Zero Carb Diets

(This is part 2 of a multi-part series on How to Tweak a Low Carb Diet . If you didn’t read part 1, you can do so by clicking on the how-to link.) When I started low carbing in January 2007, the 2002 version of Atkins was considered the bible of low carb dieting. However, even among those who proclaimed you HAD to follow that version by the book, they were using the latest Atkins Nutritionals’ (ANA) recommendations to override the book’s instructions. So if you were not eating a minimum of 20 net carbs per day on Induction and getting the greater majority of those carbs from vegetables (12 to 15 net carbs per day), you were either blasted for not doing Atkins, or you were written off as someone who was playing an I-am-on-a-diet game. You were also counseled to spend the majority of your calories on consuming tremendous amounts of fat. Those calories had to be a minimum of ten times your current weight in order to avoid starvation mode. You had to drink a minimum of eight glasses of pur...

bodybuilding diet is unhealthy

hey guys, sean nalewanyj of eliteimpactlabs.comhere and in today's video i want to discuss carbohydrates and talk a little bit aboutwhat the best sources of carbs are to include in your muscle building and fat burning diet.so when it all comes down to it, carbs are really just sugar whether you eat a chocolatebar, whether you eat a piece of fruit, or whether you eat a bowl of rice it all getsbroken down into the simple form of glucose one way or another. so in that sense, a carbohydrateis a carbohydrate because the end product is ultimately all the same. the only realdifference here is in how those carbs are “packaged up”. some carbs are going tobefound in the high fiber, high vitamin, high mineral and phytonutrient dense foods likefruits and vegetables and whole grains and potatoes and brown rice etcetera and someare going to be found in less nutritionally-dense, low fiber foods like cookies and cake andso called junk food. it’s not the carbohydrates themselves that are the ...
