namaskar! welcome to nishamadhulika.com today we will prepare daliya (porridge) and moong dal (green lentil) khichdi. this khichdi is nutritious as well as delicious. you can serve it to infant, elder child, old age people or you can eat it too. you can even serve it to any patient.

diet plan for weight loss, it tastes yummylicious. so, let's start making daliya (porridge) and moong dal (green lentil) khichdi. to make daliya and moong dal khichdi, firstly we will roast the daliya in cooker. as we are going prepare khichdi in cooker therefore we will roast daliya in it.


add 1 tsp ghee to it. ghee has melted aptly. now add 1/3 cup (50 grams) daliya to the ghee. roast daliya until there is slight change in colour and it becomes fragrant. daliya has now slightly changed its colour and became aromatic. therefore, it is roasted aptly. now add 1/3 cup (50 grams) washed moong dal to it. roast and mix it well. then add 2.5 cups of water, little more than 1/2 tsp salt or to taste and 1/4 tsp turmeric powder to it. put the lid on and let the khichdi cook until it releases a whistle.


cooker has now released a whistle. put the flame on low and let it cook for 3-4 minutes more. we have now cooked the khichdi on low flame for 4 minutes. put the flame off. keep the cooker as it is until the pressure releases on itself. pressure is released now. khichdi is now ready but it is little thick in consistency. so, add some water to it and let it simmer. we have added 1/2 cup of water.


khichdi is simmering now. khichdi is now ready for infants. we start feeding solid food to new born babies after 6 months. so, this khichdi is very nutritious for them. we have only added salt and turmeric powder to this khichdi. we will not add any masala to it just add ghee and mix it well. ghee enhances the flavour of khichdi and it is healthy for babies too. you can also use butter instead of ghee. so, this khichdi is ready for infants.


now transfer the remaining khichdi to the bowl and add tempering to it. for tempering, heat a small pan and add 2 tsp of ghee to it. you can add 1 or 2 tsp of ghee as desired. add as much ghee as you want because it enhances its flavour. ghee is now heated aptly. add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds to it. let the cumin seeds splutter. put the flame on low. add a pinch of asafoetida and let it roast.


now pour this tempering on the khichdi and slightly mix it. khichdi is now ready and it is apt for old age peoples who don't have teeth or any patient. now let̢۪s make it more spicy and tasty for elder children or ourselves. for this we will roast some vegetables until crunchy and add to it. heat a pan. now let's add vegetables and make the khichdi tastier. add 1-2 tsp ghee to the pan. we have already added cumin seeds and asafoetida tempering to it. add 1 finely chopped small green chilly, remove the seeds and less than 1/2 inch piece of ginger grated to it.


saute it for a while. now add 1/2 cup green pea and 1/4 cup finely chopped capsicum. roast it for a while. now cover and cook for 1 minute until the veggies becomes tender. 1 minute is over, now check the veggies. don't over cook the veggies, keep it slightly crunchy and tender. press a pea and check. peas have turned tender. now add a finely chopped tomato and 1/4 tsp salt to the veggies to adjust the salt. mix everything really well.


now we will add khichdi to the veggies followed by green coriander. here, we have added a green chilly and ginger to it. if your children don't like eating spicy at all then skip them and only saute the veggies and add to it. delectable vegetable khichdi is now ready. garnish the khichdi with some ghee on it. finger-licking and delectable daliya and moong dal khichdi is now ready. everyone in your family can relish eating this khichdi. this is for infants. this is for old age people and patients.
