crab diet
yeah so i was watching moana you know thatdisney movie about the pacific. well, i ended listening to that shiny songsung by tamatoa about a thousand times. that guys voice is like butter. someone save me. anyway i learned that tamatoa and the alolapokemon, crabrawler have a whole lot in common. i'd rather be... shinylike a treasure from a sunken pirate wreck scrub the deck and make it look... shinymeet the worlds largest terrestrial arthropod,
the coconut crab. these crustaceans are related to hermit crabs, porcelain crabs, and squat lobsters. hold up wait a minute...coconut crabs don'thave shells what is up with that. well when they are still young, coconut crabsare very similar to regular crabs. at first, they use mollusk shells as mobilehomes. however as they grow, they discard their shellsand their bodies hardens. eventually they grow to be over 3 feet andweight about 10 pounds. holy cow that's the size of a little dog. just like crabrawler living in the tropicalalola region, coconut crabs live on island
beaches throughout the indian and south pacificoceans. they live in dirt burrows and rock crevices, and scavenge for fruits and nuts, including coconuts, so that's where their name comesfrom. hmmm...that is similar to how crabrawler isnormally found under berries. coconut crabs are huge, antisocial hermitcrabs, and they will steal your silverware. that doesn't really have anything to do crabrawler, but tamatoa's golden caprice makes a lot more sense now. anyway they aggressively guard their privacy;a crab entering another’s burrow risks becoming a meal.
but that’s not the end of their antisocialbehavior. when coconut crabs emerge to feed, they keeptheir distance from each other. to maintain their personal space, they’llannounce their presence with ritualized claw waving. a coconut crab’s diet may include othertropical fruits, fallen plant material, dead and decaying animals, rats, and other crabspecies. they’ll even eat members of their own kind. cannibalism my dude. it gets worst dudes.
they also eat their own discarded body parts. as coconut crabs grow, they periodically molttheir tough outer layer and grow a new one. once they’re done molting, which takes abouta month, they gobble up their own exoskeleton. ehhh...gross. i get it now...so that's why crabrawler isn'ta water type. coconut crabs seem to mainly live on land. crabrawler's fighting type also makes sense. coconut crabs are incredibly aggressive andwill fight each other sometimes resorting to cannibalism.
okay, crabrawler is a coconut crab, but there'sno way crabominable is real. oh my goodness, crabominable is real too! its based on something called a freaking yeticrab. yeah, i'm done. why?
crab diet, because i'd rather be... shinywatch me dazzle like a diamond in the rough strut my stuff; my stuff is so... shinysend your armies, but they'll never be enough
