hi. i'm thomas merritt, i'm a professor and canada research chair at laurentian university. i've got a question today about how diet and lifestyle affect your chances of contracting a genetic disease. it's a really interesting question. there are a lot of pieces that come together in this. so there really are no genetic diseases, and there really are no environmental diseases. everything comes together.
5 bite diet challenge, genetics is incredibly complex. most of the characteristics that we're interested in, things like disease and disease susceptibility, are a combination of environment, and that means lifestyle and diet, with your genetics. so they all work together to give you that
final biology that is disease susceptibility. so there really is no disease that that is separated from either of those, your environment, whether it's smoking or not-smoking, whether it's exercise, health, just your general level of activity,
that interacts with who are genetically to give you that final biology, in this case to give you your chances of contracting or not contracting a particular disease. i hope that helps. i'm
