starvation diet
hi. this is dixie from low carb zen. todayi want to talk about starvation mode. real or myth? ooooooooooooooo.[music] so, pretty much any time a conversation comesup on, in a low carb discussion group, where somebody's eating very little, there willbe somebody who say, you, you know, you need to eat more, or you're gonna enter starvationmode.
starvation diet, and there's gonna be somebody else who says, that's ridiculous. you can't enter starvation mode. and here are some links where somebodytalks about what a ridiculous thing it is. now, these kind of arguments sort of driveme insane. because you're talking about two entirely different things.the person who says, no, you're not going
to literally starve, points to informationabout actual, physical starvation. where the body is not getting enough food to survive, and you know, we're talking about days, weeks, months! without food.and somebody's at genuine risk of dying. when someone in a weight loss discussion grouptalks about starvation mode, they not using the scientific term, or meaning of the word.they are using the colloquialism that is referring to when someone is eating a very low calorie, diet. when someone is eating very little in general, their metabolism slows down.the energy output slows down. their body becomes very, very efficient at hanging on to whateverfood they're giving them. this is the [air quotes] starvation mode that we're talkingabout.
it's a matter of semantics. and, if, you know,if you want to put it differently or whatever, that's fine. but please don't argue aboutsemantics. that's just annoying. and it's not really furthering the conversation. y'allare talking about two different things. [music] so stop fighting about it! take care and peaceout from the zen goddess. buh-bye.it's going! [sigh] because...oops. that didn't need to stillbe on. anyway.
